The company opened its doors in 1969, thanks to the pioneer and entrepreneur Lauretino Joaquim de Almeida. He was the founder of the first and really small (at first) land transport business in Barra do Garças (MT) and Região do Araguaia, he named the company Viação Xavante Ltda.
In the beginning, the company had small buses making regional lines. Over time, the lines were legalized in bidding processes, carried out by the Municipality of Barra do Garças. Laurentino operated the routes of Barra do Garças with Água Boa (MT), Canarana (MT) and São Félix do Araguaia (MT). Barra do Garças (MT) with Novo São Joaquim (MT) and Alto Araguaia (MT).
In 1979 Xavante was acquired by a group of companies in Uberaba (MG). The buses were already one of the economic and social pillars of Barra do Garças, and of the Araguaia region. For many years the company had to face different adversities. There were routes, practically traced by the same wheels of the buses.
The year 1990 was marked by the beginning of the modernization of the Xavante fleet, and also the change in its routes, the company began to unify Cuiabá with Barra do Garças in a bold association with Goiania Expresso São Luiz and, sequentially, also joining Vila Rica (MT), the northeast of the State, and the whole region of Araguaia to Goiânia and Brasília, standing out for the determination and the work, since it is a territory previously unthinkable for the traffic of long-distance buses.
